Have you been on a “Word-Fast?”
A “word-fast” is like an injection of vitamin E or a quick working antibiotic. If you want to get the full benefits of God’s word in your heart and mind quickly, then go on a word-fast! A word-fastis when you turn off the television, radio (yes…in your car) and any other form of electronic distraction (oh my….facebook, twitter, etc) and read or listen to God’s word or a teaching CD. It is a designated period of time, (3 to 7 days) where we listen for His voice rather than the voices of the world. A word-fast allows you the time to read, listen, reflect, meditate and wash yourself in the Word of God.
As parents, grandparents and as shepherd-leaders we attribute our ability to understand the times we are living in to our daily intake of God’s Word and hearing His voice. Now, as we lead this congregation into the last six months of 2010, we can do no less than make His word our priority.
